Small-scale fishers as guardians of healthy oceans

When oceans thrive, fishers thrive. Across more than a dozen countries, Blue Ventures is partnering with traditional fishers and community organisations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level.

Snowchange

Combining traditional knowledge and science to protect the planet and cultures

Snowchange (Lumimuutos) was founded in Finland in late 2000 to document and work with local and Indigenous communities across the Northern regions. Today, it leads efforts in ecosystem restoration, fishing, and supporting traditional livelihoods worldwide, combining hands-on action, research, and advocacy.

Maliasili

Supporting community-led conservation organisations across Africa

Maliasili works with a selected local African organisations in developing clear strategies and communications, attracting more funding, and strengthening their leadership so they can achieve even greater impact for people and nature.

Akordi

Mediating competing interests in green transition to find fair solutions

Akordi specialises in environmental collaboration, conflict resolution and public policy mediation. The funding allows Akordi to help municipalities, enterprises and local communities in finding fair and acceptable solutions to the puzzles presented by new industrial green transition projects, and adopt better ways to anticipate and resolve these difficult equations together.

Baltic Sea Action Group

Removing policy barriers to regenerative agriculture

Our partnership helps the Baltic Sea Action Group to strengthen the regenerative agriculture movement on the European level and work to remove policy barriers that block large-scale change.

John Nurminen Foundation

Saving the Baltic Sea, the marine test lab for global warming and biodiversity loss

With relentless work, John Nurminen Foundation has significantly reduced the release of harmful chemicals, fertilizers and phosphorus load from field and livestock farming to the Baltic Sea.

Youth Climate Summit

Championing the new generation of climate leaders

RELEX Foundation was one of the proud enablers of The Climate & Environments Summit of the Finnish Youth in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, 600 participants from all over Finland gathered to influence our climate and form a shared message from the youth to the UN Climate negotiations COP28.

Nature Trip Grant Collaboration

Over 9000 children and youth experience outdoor adventures with nature trip grants

TAH Foundation, RELEX Foundation, Urlus Foundation and the Foundation Brita Maria Renlund's minne joined forces to launch a joint grant program enabling nature excursions for groups in early childhood, primary, and secondary education.

Aseman Lapset – The Children of the Station

Promoting emotional and coping skills

We have partnered with Aseman Lapset – The Children of the Station and their Friends programme, a science-based, effective model to prevent the development of anxiety and depression. It strengthens the balance of emotional and interaction skills and promotes positive coping skills in children and young people to prevent severe emotional problems from developing. The RELEX Foundation grant helps Aseman Lapset also to develop the organisation itself.

The Finnish Student Health Service

Quick access to mental health support

A collaboration of the RELEX Foundation, Heltti and The Finnish Student Health Service (YTHS) enables 900 short-term therapy sessions for students. The short-term therapy provided by psychologists will bring an additional contribution to the YTHS's services and help meet the rising demand for mental health services.

CEED Fund by UNICEF

Building climate resilient social services around the world

The effects of climate change are already hitting hard. UNICEF’s new Climate, Environment, Energy & Disaster Risk Reduction (CEED) Fund is much needed for climate-proofing social services for children and communities.

CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation

Increasing capacity to build peace

Peace is fundamental for children and youth to have equal opportunities and good, safe lives. The purpose of RELEX Foundation's support is to increase CMI's capability to answer the growing number of peace mediation requests and to urge other donors to choose peace.

World Food Programme and Médecins Sans Frontières

Contributing to humanitarian response

In 2023, we made donations to UN World Food Programme and Médecins Sans Frontières to contribute to the survival of people living in the harshest circumstances.
